Julio Martinez, 11 Mortgage’s Senior Loan Set Up Specialist, has worn almost every hat there is to wear in the retail and wholesale mortgage business! He’s been a Processor, Loan Officer, Operations Manager, Escrow Officer, Broker, Disclosure Desk, Junior Underwriter, and he has his Real Estate License. Now, he meticulously serves as a front gate to Brokers checking and clearing documents to ensure a seamless experience.
Martinez began working when he was 18 years old at an office furniture manufacturing company (Steelcase) while going to school at Santa Ana Community College. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration. A move to Anaheim, CA led him to his wife Hilda of 19 years, name. They have four children, Arianna (18), Cesar (16), Angel (15), and Sophia (7).
Martinez’s “second mom” Maria Camberos, brought him into the mortgage industry when she connected him with a Loan Officer at Countrywide looking for a part-time “gopher.”
For almost 5 years he learned the ropes of the industry, then left to work for Wells Fargo in Trust Services. “It was interesting to learn the back end of the mortgage industry, where loans are already funded for almost 6 years before the market crashed in 2008,” recalled Martinez. “I understood how investors bought and sold their securities as an operations manager.”
Martinez’s next position in an escrow office led him to Fidelity Title, then on to WesLend Financial, the wholesale channel for Lenox Financial (Retail) Mortgage. For almost 6 years, he served and met the friends and colleagues who would eventually bring him to Eleven Mortgage.
“I’ve been all over the place in the industry!” exclaimed Martinez.
Thanks to a terrible commute and persistence for Martinez to rejoin forces with former WesLend comrades as Eleven Mortgage, he accepted the offer to come aboard.
“I love what I do,” gushed Martinez. “I’m fortunate to work here and to have the extensive industry experience I’ve obtained going on 25 years that allows me to feel like the work isn’t work- it’s enjoyable and straightforward.”
Martinez shared his experience with me about attending the Production Trip this year in Miami, Florida. “It’s the furthest I’ve travelled East, and it was well worth it,” beamed Martinez.
Martinez closed our conversation by sharing his personal hobbies which include fishing, but mainly dotted on his wife and children. He sent me the following pictures of his children and some captioning for you all to get to know his family:
- Arianna – She’s my oldest, now 18yrs old – Grad pic attached. Graduated with honors with a 3.8 gpa. Currently attending Riverside Comm. College.
- Cesar – He’s now 16. He’ll be a Junior, 11th grade next year. Pic of him with his HS marching band suit (Ramona High/Rams). He plays the trumpet.
- Angel – He’s 14, also in HS with his brother at Ramona. He’ll be a sophomore/10th grade next. He’s on the water polo team & soccer teams. Passed 9th grade with a 4.00 gpa (straight A’s)
- Sofia – 6yrs old. She’s our bonus baby, love of our lives.
